How do I know if my parent qualifies for assisted living or must go into a nursing home?

This is a very common question. Before assisted living came along, just about everyone went to the dreaded nursing home with its hospital beds, curtains, and steel dresser. Today nursing homes are for the sickest of the sick. Unless your loved one is bedridden, he or she will probably do much better in assisted living. We can help you determine that.

What are your criteria for choosing facilities to work with ?

I have very tough standards, so many facilities don’t get on my suggested list. I look at the level of care offered, the friendliness of the staff, their experience, and stability.

How do I know that the facilities Ask Carol! suggests are really the right ones for my loved one?

We spend many hours helping our clients select the right facility. Unlike others who just send your contact to a whole bunch of facilities in your area, thus bombarding you with calls and emails, we talk with you at length to learn about your loved one and then help you find the right facility. Normally, we try to narrow it down to about three that you will visit. Almost always one of those will be just right.
